Active Learning Strategies

Active Learning is about the how well one can understand of the concepts of the subject and it can be incorporated for real time problem solving. In active active learning, students will be able to solve problems, answer questions, formulate questions of their own, discuss, explain, debate, or brainstorm during class.

  • Individual Activities
  • Paired Activities

There are many active learning strategies that can be used in class. Some of them may include :

  • Think-pair-share (pair-share)
  • Team -pair- solo
  • Role playing, simulations
  • Jigsaw
  • Muddiest point/clearest point
  • Group quizzing
  • Generate lists
  • Cooperative learning
  • Minute papers and writing assignments/Group assignment
  • Concept maps etc..

The above methods can be used in any kind of subject like concept based, problem solving, analysis type of subjects etc.
